Access Ramps

Maintenance of home ramps

They come in all sizes and colors but whatever the purpose that they were intended for, they all have their maintenance needs. For pet ramps, clean them regularly for pets are liable to leave their droppings on them. If the surface is rough, fur will be left sticking out and the same will be transferred to your car seats or boot when you travel. After cleaning, cover the ramp to prevent corrosion and prolong their durability. Wheel chair ramps should be dusted regularly as dirt will be transferred to your house. They can also be carpeted if they are permanent to make them even more user-friendly. Clean their hand rails every day and make sure that there are no rough spots on them that can hurt somebody’s hand as it slides over them.

If you have a ramp that you use to access your store for swim and fishing gear, make sure that no debris lie on it as ‘these can make you slip over when your arms are loaded with stuff. Get new ones if their traction wears out as a smooth surface will be slippery. If it is wooden, treat it with a pesticide as recommended to prolong its life. Keep it covered against hot or wet weather to prevent it from rotting or cracking.
